2019 Nellie Pederson Civic Library Scholarships

Announcing the 2019 Library Scholarships for Clifton High School graduating seniors.

AWARDS: Two (2) $2500.00 scholarships will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY: Students must be graduating seniors who are chosen to receive the award by the Nellie Pederson Civic Library Scholarship Committee based on review of completed application forms. Payment will be made directly to the college or university where student is to enroll, and can be applied to tuition, books, fees, or room/board at the discretion of the student. The student must remain enrolled for at least one full semester (or quarter), or the award will be withdrawn.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Clifton High School Counselor will be asked to post notice of availability in a conspicuous location so that any interested graduating senior can apply. The high school will be asked to certify the student’s grade average based on un-weighted scores with 100 being the highest average. All decisions of the Committee are final. In the event that a scholarship is returned or not used by a successful applicant, the money can be awarded to an alternate candidate.

SELECTION CRITERIA: To be selected, a student must:

  1. Have a high school grade average (unweighted based on 100) of 80 or above. The student’s grade average for all work completed through the middle of the senior year will be included.
  2. Be of exemplary character and community standing.
  3. Receive the written recommendations of three persons in the community.
  4. Complete the required application forms, including preparation of a short essay concerning the student’s plans and goals.

SCHEDULE: The deadline for returning the application and letters of recommendation to the Nellie Pederson Civic Library is April 15, 2019.
